One hears oneself differently than others hear them due to the way sound travels through the body. When we speak, the sound vibrations travel through our bones and tissues before reaching our ears, which can slightly alter the way we perceive our own voice. Additionally, the shape and size of our ear canals and the way our brain processes sound can also contribute to the difference in how we hear ourselves compared to how others hear us. This phenomenon is known as the "head-related transfer function" and is the reason why our recorded voice sounds different to us when played back. **
